Job summary

Pacific National is seeking a proactive HSE Advisor to join our Queensland team in Gracemere. You will coach leaders, drive continuous safety improvement and embed robust risk management across our rail operations.

This hands-on role requires delivering training on PN’s safety systems, facilitating risk assessments, leading investigations, and supporting audits. Expect regional travel and close collaboration with the HSE team to achieve meaningful safety outcomes.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety, Occupational Risk, Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience delivering effective HSE outcomes across complex, multi-site operations.
• Experience coaching leaders and facilitating incident investigations.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental requirements within rail haulage, logistics or mining.

Responsibilities

• Coach operational leaders to strengthen HSE capability and safety leadership.
• Facilitate risk assessments and monitor effectiveness of critical controls.
• Support delivery of PN's key HSE strategic initiatives.
• Lead incident investigations in line with PN's investigation framework.
• Deliver training on PN's enterprise management system and HSE applications.
• Travel to regional Queensland sites as required.

An excellent opportunity has become available for a proactive, solutions-focused HSE Advisor to join our Queensland HSE team based in Gracemere.

As part of our national HSE business partnering team, you'll play a pivotal role in coaching leaders, driving continuous improvement, and embedding effective risk management practices across our operational environment. This position is well-suited to someone who thrives in a hands-on role, enjoys building capability, and is passionate about delivering meaningful safety outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Partner with and coach operational leaders to strengthen HSE capability and safety leadership.


• Facilitate risk assessments and monitor the effectiveness of critical controls.


• Support the delivery of Pacific National's key HSE strategic initiatives.


• Build workforce capability in hazard identification and risk management.


• Contribute to audits and compliance assurance activities.


• Lead and facilitate incident investigations in line with PN's investigation framework.


• Deliver training on PN's enterprise management system and HSE applications.


• Travel to regional Queensland sites as required.

What You'll Bring

• Tertiary qualifications in Health & Safety, Occupational Risk, Engineering or a related discipline.


• Proven experience delivering effective HSE outcomes across complex, multi-site operations.


• Strong working knowledge of safety and environmental requirements within rail haulage, logistics or mining (ideally 5+ years).


• Demonstrated capability in hazard and risk control implementation.


• Experience coaching leaders and facilitating incident investigations.


• Exposure to Major Hazard Facilities or dangerous goods (highly regarded).
