Grand Hyatt Melbourne is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead our Engineering Department, overseeing building, plant and equipment maintenance to deliver safe, comfortable experiences for guests and associates. This hands-on leadership role combines day-to-day operations with planning, projects and continuous improvement across hotel facilities and services.

Applicants must have extensive hotel engineering leadership experience and unrestricted Australian working rights.

Qualifications

• Experience leading an engineering or facilities team in a hotel or similar complex environment.
• Strong knowledge of building services, plant and equipment maintenance, and preventive maintenance planning.
• Clear commitment to workplace safety, life safety systems and compliance.
• Ability to manage budgets, resources and energy/operating costs.
• Experience coordinating with contractors and external trades.
• Familiarity with maintenance systems such as HOTSOS or comparable platforms.

Responsabilités

• Lead, coach and develop the Engineering team with clear priorities and high standards.
• Oversee preventive maintenance across hotel equipment and facilities.
• Inspect building and plant rooms, identify defects and drive repairs and maintenance.
• Maintain focus on life safety and safe work practices.
• Plan maintenance schedules and guest room servicing using asset records.
• Coordinate projects including FF&E and CAPEX with redevelopment teams.
• Monitor costs, staffing and rosters, and seek waste reduction opportunities.
• Track energy use and support conservation initiatives.
• Keep engineering logs and maintenance documentation up to date.
