Queensland Government is seeking a Principal Assessment Officer to coordinate risk assessment, triage and assessment of complaints within the Health - Health Service Support group. The role ensures activities comply with the Health Ombudsman Act 2013 and relevant policies, with responsibilities spanning high-volume case guidance and data reporting.

• Lead and coordinate the assessment team to meet timeliness and quality indicators.
• Ensure compliance with Health Ombudsman Act 2013 and related policies.
• Prepare briefing documents for high risk matters when required.

Responsabilités

• Lead and coordinate the assessment team to meet statutory and organisational performance indicators for timeliness and quality, including ensuring matters relating to corrupt conduct, public interest disclosures, and human rights complaints are managed appropriately and in accordance with the requirements of those relevant legislations.
• Coordinate and provide technical guidance and direction for the assessment case management process to a high volume of cases, including providing guidance on individual cases and ensuring compliance with records management policies and protocols, data collection and reporting.
• Determine and document sound administrative assessment decisions and reasons regarding complaints and other matters. This includes decisions as to whether no further action should be taken, or where complaints should be referred for local resolution, conciliation, investigation (for practitioners or systemic issues) and/or referral to another entity and where appropriate, to prepare briefing documents for the Health Ombudsman on high risk, serious matters that raise concerns about issues of public interest and safety.
• Applications will remain current for a period of up to 12 months and may be considered for other vacancies (identical or similar).
• Appointments are subject to criminal history checks in accordance with section 52 of the Public Sector Act 2022 .
• Prior to appointment, current and previous public sector employees are required to disclose any history of serious disciplinary action in accordance with section 71 of the Public Sector Act 2022 .
• All employees are required to disclose any interest/s that conflict, may conflict or may be perceived to conflict with the discharge of their duties in accordance with section 89, 182 or 183 of the Public Sector Act 2022 .
