Job summary

Harmony Australasia seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to identify geotechnical hazards and implement practical mitigation strategies. The role is based onsite at CSA Mine, Cobar, NSW, on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Brisbane or Sydney with local candidates welcome.

You will contribute to long-term mine design, develop monitoring and seismic systems, maintain geotechnical databases, and mentor the team while ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations across the operation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining, Geology, Civil, or related Engineering field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and geotechnical software.
• Experience with backfill design, seismic monitoring, and ground instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to improve geotechnical/backfill operations for safety and efficiency.
• Ensure geotechnical/backfill work meets company standards and regulations.
• Review and update PHMPs, TARPS and SWIs as needed.
• Provide geotechnical input into long-term mine design (LOM/3MRS).
• Develop and maintain geotechnical records and monitoring systems.
• Mentor and develop the geotech team.

Education

Degree in Mining, Geology, Civil, or related Engineering field
