Evolution Mining's Cowal Gold Operations is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead ground conditions management across open pit and underground environments, at the Cowal site on a balanced 8:6 roster. You will build and mentor a geotechnical team, drive innovation in monitoring and data-driven controls, and influence key operational decisions to extend mine life and safety.

Qualifications

• Degree in Geotechnical, Mining, Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology (geotechnical focus).
• 7+ years of geotechnical engineering experience, including senior level exposure.
• Strong understanding of ground control, mine design and geotechnical risk management.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical outcomes that enable safe, stable and efficient mining across open pit and underground.
• Shape key mining stages, including pit finalisation and development of new cutback areas.
• Build and mentor a capable geotechnical team, supporting engineers and graduates to grow and succeed.
• Drive innovation in monitoring, systems and ground control practices across diverse rock conditions.
• Influence operational decisions by identifying risk, improving controls and strengthening data-driven insights.

This Senior Geotechnical Engineer role puts you at the centre of that evolution, leading how we manage ground conditions across both open pit and underground environments.

Working an 8:6 roster, you’ll balance meaningful, technically challenging work with a lifestyle that gives you time back - all while contributing to major stages of the mine life, from pit finalisation and new cutback development through to ongoing underground growth in a truly integrated operation.

Based at our Cowal Operations and reporting to the Superintendent – Geotechnical Engineering, you’ll:

Does this sound like you?

• Degree in Geotechnical, Mining, Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology (geotechnical focus)
• 7+ year’s experience in geotechnical engineering, including senior level exposure
• Strong understanding of ground control, mine design and geotechnical risk management
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and contribute to operational decision making
• Leadership capability with a passion for mentoring and developing others

Nice to have:

• AusIMM Chartered Professional and/or RPEQ/RPEV
• Experience across both open pit and underground mining environments
