Job summary

Evolution Mining’s Cowal Gold Operations in New South Wales seeks a Senior Open Pit Mine Engineer to shape medium-term mine plans and optimise design concepts into live operations. As our Senior Open Pit Mine Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing and optimising medium-term mine plans that directly influence the future performance of Cowal. From new satellite pit developments through to life-of-mine optimisation, you’ll have the opportunity to see your work translate from design concepts into real operational outcomes.

Working a 5:2/4:3 roster at our Cowal Gold Operations, you’ll enjoy the benefits of a residential lifestyle while gaining exposure to new pit developments, life-of-mine planning, scenario modelling and strategic mine optimisation. This role offers rare exposure across the full open pit lifecycle, from startup and ramp-up through to operational integration and closure planning.

Reporting to the Superintendent – Medium Term Planning, you’ll:

• Drive medium-term mine planning outcomes that maximise value, productivity and operational performance.
• Influence the design and optimisation of new satellite pits and future mining opportunities.
• Deliver scenario modelling, forecasting and risk analysis that supports key business decisions.
• Identify improvement opportunities across planning systems, mine design and scheduling processes.
• Mentor and develop engineering talent as part of the site’s succession planning strategy.

• Degree qualified Mining Engineer.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in open pit mine planning or mining studies.
• Strong mine design, scheduling and optimisation capability.
• Advanced Deswik experience, particularly within scheduling and mine planning environments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence across technical and operational teams.
• Experience within a metals mining environment.
• A proactive and analytical mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and problem solving.

Highly regarded:

• Experience in medium-term planning environments.
• Exposure to scenario modelling, risk analysis and forecasting.
• Experience with Life of Mine planning and optimisation studies
