Job summary

Evolution Mining's Cowal Gold Operations is seeking a Shift Leading Hand to run the mining crew on site. You’ll be the go-to on shift, ensuring safe work, hitting production targets, and keeping operations smooth.

This hands-on, fast-paced role requires leading prestart meetings, supervising safety, and coordinating leave and rosters. You’ll partner with operators and supervisors and support training and future leadership at Cowal.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience with heavy gear in open cut mining, quarries or road construction.
• Experience supervising crews and delivering results.
• Strong safety focus and ability to perform under pressure.
• Good organisation and communication; able to work with others.
• Current driver’s licence; Cert IV TAE would be a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Lead prestart meetings and set up the shift board; ensure everyone knows their tasks.
• Monitor safety, manage hazards and maintain high standards of operation.
• Serve as first point of contact for crew issues; help manage leave, rosters and performance reviews.
• Support training and development for the team and plan for future leadership.

What’s the opportunity?

We’re looking for a Shift Leading Hand to help run our mining crew at Cowal. You’ll be the go-to person on shift, making sure the team is working safely, hitting production targets, and keeping things running smoothly.

• You’ll lead prestart meetings and set up the shift board so everyone knows what they’re doing.
• You’ll keep an eye on safety, deal with any hazards, and make sure the crew is working to the highest standards.
• You’ll be the first point of contact for crew issues and help manage leave, rosters, and performance reviews.
• You’ll support training and development for the team and help plan for future leadership.

This role is hands-on and fast-paced, and you’ll be working closely with operators, supervisors, and other teams to get the job done right.

• You’ve got at least seven years’ experience working with heavy gear in open cut mining, quarries or road construction.
• You’ve supervised crews before and know how to manage people and get results.
• You’re safety-focused, good at making decisions, and know how to keep things on track under pressure.
• You’re organised, a clear communicator, and can work well with others.
• You’ve got a current driver’s licence, and a Cert IV TAE would be a bonus.
