Job summary

Covetrus is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our Brisbane or Sydney offices on a permanent basis. You will support wholesale distribution and software businesses across Australia & New Zealand, reporting to the Finance Manager in Brisbane.

Key duties include month-end processes, variance analysis, software business finance management, fixed assets / leases, and US system data uploads. You will contribute to statutory reporting, budgeting, and internal control compliance.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting/Commerce.
• CA/CPA qualifications (or working towards).
• Three years experience within a large commercial environment.
• Advanced MS Excel proficiency.
• Strong communication and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare end-of-month journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Provide variance analysis and supplementary reporting for management and US reporting.
• Manage day-to-day financials of the software business and support the software team.
• Own processes and P&L accounts for fixed assets and operating leases.
• Load financial information into the US reporting system.
• Assist with statutory financial statements and liaise with external auditors.
• Assist with budget preparation and forecasting.
• Ensure compliance with global internal control framework.
• Contribute to various projects and process improvements.

Due to an internal promotion, we are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join either our Brisbane (Northgate) or Sydney (Erskine Park) office on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Finance Manager (Brisbane based), you will provide accurate and timely financial information to support our wholesale distribution and software businesses across Australia & New Zealand. • End of month preparation including journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Providing variance analysis and other supplementary reporting to management and as required for US reporting purposes.
• Day to Day financial management of our software business and supporting the software team on financial matters.
• Ownership of processes and P&L accounts associated with fixed assets and operating leases.
• Responsibility for loading financial information into the US reporting system.
• Assisting with the preparation of statutory financial statements and liaising with external auditors as required.
• Budget preparation and forecasting.
• Assisting with compliance with global internal control framework.
• Assisting with various projects and business improvement initiatives.

About You

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting/Commerce coupled with CA/CPA qualifications (or working towards).
• Demonstrated three years experience within a large, commercial environment and accounting team.
• Advanced skills in MS Excel.
• Well developed interpersonal skills with an ability to adapt your communication to suit different internal stakeholders.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise your work in an agile way.
• A positive, proactive attitude with a focus on seeking out continuous improvement opportunities.
