Job summary

Covetrus, a global animal health technology and services company, is looking for a Senior Accounts Payable Officer to join our Northgate team on a permanent basis in Brisbane. You will support cash flow, manage supplier payments, and assist with reporting in a large, head office finance team that values staff recognition and pet-friendly offices.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years end-to-end AP experience, strong Excel skills, and a collaborative, detail-oriented approach within a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Minimum three years end-to-end accounts payable experience in a high-volume environment.
• Senior capacity experience, inspiring, motivating and mentoring other team members.
• Experience with foreign currency (FX gains/losses) is advantageous.
• Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills with external suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills.
• Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
• Reliability and flexibility in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Support cash flow management by overseeing payment schedules, creditor obligations, and forecasting upcoming supplier payments.
• Assist the Accounts Payable Manager with weekly, end-of-month, and end-of-quarter reporting packages.
• Process stock and services invoices/credits ensuring accuracy within payment terms.
• Reconcile supplier statements and follow up unreconciled invoices/credits.
• Manage foreign currency transactions and international supplier payments and FX movements.
• Handle queries from external suppliers and internal stakeholders promptly.
• Compliance checking of all payments to ensure internal controls.
• Contribute to process improvement projects as required.

The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Accounts Payable Officer to join our Northgate team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a large, head office finance team and be part of a global organisation that makes a positive impact to our vet customers and pet owners. Your responsibilities will include –

Support cash flow management by overseeing payment schedules, creditor obligations, and accurate forecasting of upcoming supplier payments.

Assist the Accounts Payable Manager with preparation of weekly/EOM/end of quarter reporting package.

Processing of stock and services invoices/credits ensuring invoices, approvals and payments are processed accurately and within payment terms.

Reconciliation of supplier statements and actioning follow up of unreconciled invoices/credits.

Manage foreign currency transactions and international supplier payments, ensuring accurate accounting for exchange rate movements and FX gains/losses.

Actioning queries from external suppliers and internal stakeholders in a prompt and friendly manner

Compliance checking of all payments to ensure internal controls are adhered too.

Contributing to key process improvement projects as required.

About You

Ideally you will display –

Minimum three years end to end accounts payable experience across a high volume, large environment with an understanding of supply chain - three-way match, purchase orders etc.

Demonstrated experience in a senior capacity where you have Inspired, motivated, and/or mentored other team members.

Experience with foreign currency (FX gain/losses) advantage

Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills when dealing with queries from external suppliers and/or internal stakeholders.

Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel.

Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Reliability and flexibility to work within a changing and fast paced environment.

A friendly and collaborative demeanour to work within a cohesive finance team.
