Job summary

Covetrus is seeking a Hybrid Intermediate Accountant to support growth across Australia and New Zealand. This role can be based in Brisbane (Northgate) or Sydney (Erskine Park) and reports to the Finance Manager in Brisbane.

You will handle month-end close, cash flow management, and P&L ownership for software and wholesale operations. Ideal candidates have CA/CPA qualifications (or working towards) and at least three years in a large commercial accounting function, with strong Excel skills and

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting/Commerce and CA/CPA qualifications (or working towards).
• Three years' experience in a large commercial accounting environment.
• Advanced MS Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• End of month preparation including journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Provide variance analysis and reporting for management and US reporting purposes.
• Manage day-to-day financials of the software business and support the software team on financial matters.
• Own processes and P&L accounts related to fixed assets and operating leases.
• Load financial information into the US reporting system.
• Assist with preparation of statutory financial statements and liaise with external auditors.
• Budget preparation and forecasting.
• Assist with compliance with global internal control framework.
• Assist with various projects and business improvement initiatives.

The Role
Due to an internal promotion, we are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join either our Brisbane (Northgate) or Sydney (Erskine Park) office on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Finance Manager (Brisbane based), you will provide accurate and timely financial information to support our wholesale distribution and software businesses across Australia & New Zealand. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a large finance team and be part of a global organisation that makes a positive impact to our vet customers and pet owners.

Your responsibilities will include –

• End of month preparation including journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.

About You

Ideally you will display –

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting/Commerce coupled with CA/CPA qualifications (or working towards).
• Demonstrated three years experience within a large, commercial environment and accounting team.
• Advanced skills in MS Excel.
• Well developed interpersonal skills with an ability to adapt your communication to suit different internal stakeholders.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise your work in an agile way.
• A positive, proactive attitude with a focus on seeking out continuous improvement opportunities.
