Job summary

Covetrus is a global animal health technology and services company, seeking a Financial Accountant for our Sydney (Erskine Park) office. You will manage month-end processes, provide variance analysis, and support the software business across Australia & New Zealand.

Ideally you will hold CA/CPA or be working towards it, with 3+ years in a large commercial accounting environment and strong Excel. This permanent role offers hybrid options in a dog-friendly, family-friendly culture.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Commerce; CA/CPA or in progress.
• Three years experience in a large commercial accounting team.
• Advanced MS Excel skills.
• Strong communication with internal stakeholders.
• Excellent time management and prioritisation.

Responsibilities

• Month-end closing including journals, accruals and reconciliations.
• Provide variance analysis and prepare reports for management and US reporting.
• Oversee financial matters for software business and support teams.
• Own fixed assets and operating leases accounting processes.
• Load financial data into US reporting system.
• Assist with statutory financial statements and audits.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Contribute to internal control improvements and projects.

The Role

Due to an internal promotion, we are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join either our Sydney (Erskine Park) office on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Finance Manager (Brisbane based), you will provide accurate and timely financial information to support our wholesale distribution and software businesses across Australia & New Zealand.

Your responsibilities will include –

• End of month preparation including journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Providing variance analysis and other supplementary reporting to management and as required for US reporting purposes.
• Day to Day financial management of our software business and supporting the software team on financial matters.
• Ownership of processes and P&L accounts associated with fixed assets and operating leases.
• Responsibility for loading financial information into the US reporting system.
• Assisting with the preparation of statutory financial statements and liaising with external auditors as required.
• Budget preparation and forecasting.
• Assisting with compliance with global internal control framework.
• Assisting with various projects and business improvement initiatives.

About You

Ideally you will display –

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting/Commerce coupled with CA/CPA qualifications (or working towards).
• Demonstrated three years experience within a large, commercial environment and accounting team.
• Advanced skills in MS Excel.
• Well developed interpersonal skills with an ability to adapt your communication to suit different internal stakeholders.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise your work in an agile way.
• A positive, proactive attitude with a focus on seeking out continuous improvement opportunities.
