Hire Cott Pty Ltd in Sydney is seeking an experienced Façade Design Manager/Senior Design Manager to lead façade design and technical coordination across major projects valued at $20M+. The role combines design and project coordination, working with Tier 1 builders, architects and an offshore design team.

You will operate from Sydney, support a local façade coordinator, and travel to ACT/interstate sites as needed. Strong experience in façade systems and NCC compliance is essential.

The Opportunity

We are partnering with a fast-growing international façade engineering and construction company that is expanding its presence across Australia and New Zealand.

Backed by an established overseas listed group and a substantial international design and engineering capability, the business is currently delivering major façade packages exclusively with leading Tier 1 builders across Sydney, ACT and other Australian markets.

With a growing pipeline of major commercial, healthcare, government and complex building projects, the company is looking to appoint experienced Façade Design Managers / Senior Design Managers to its Sydney team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced façade professional who wants to join a growing Australian operation while having access to the technical resources and engineering support of a major international organisation.

The Role

Based in Sydney and reporting to senior management, you will take ownership of façade design and technical coordination across major projects, generally involving façade packages valued at $20M+.

The position is approximately 50% technical design and 50% design/project coordination, working closely with Tier 1 builders, architects, consultants, project teams and an established offshore design and drafting team.

You will also manage and support a local Façade Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead façade design and technical coordination across major construction projects
• Attend design coordination meetings with Tier 1 builders, architects and consultants
• Review and coordinate façade system designs, shop drawings, site drawings and installation details
• Coordinate closely with the international design and engineering team throughout design development
• Manage RFIs, design changes, technical queries and ongoing project documentation
• Review project specifications, Australian Standards and relevant compliance requirements
• Develop practical design solutions to resolve technical, manufacturing and site installation issues
• Coordinate with Project Managers regarding procurement, installation methodology and locally sourced materials
• Support site teams with shop drawing interpretation, installation planning and technical problem solving
• Coordinate third-party consultants, engineering reviews and required design certifications
• Support VMU/PMU design coordination, inspections and related technical activities
• Manage and mentor local façade design/coordinator resources
• Occasionally travel to ACT or interstate projects as required

About You

We are particularly interested in candidates coming from a façade contractor, façade consultancy or major Tier 1 builder environment.

Ideally, you will have:

• Strong commercial façade / curtain wall industry experience
• Previous experience as a Façade Design Manager, Design Manager, Senior Façade Engineer, Façade Project Engineer or similar
• Experience delivering large-scale commercial, healthcare, government or other complex construction projects
• Strong knowledge of façade systems, shop drawings and design coordination
• Practical understanding of how façade design translates into manufacturing and site installation
• Experience coordinating with Tier 1 builders, architects, engineers and specialist consultants
• Strong knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, NCC requirements and façade compliance
• Ability to identify technical issues and develop practical, buildable solutions
• Experience managing or coordinating internal and/or offshore design teams
• A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, construction, architecture or a related discipline
• Strong English and Mandarin communication skills, as regular technical coordination with the international design team is required
• Unrestricted Australian working rights

Experience delivering façade packages for major Tier 1 builders such as Multiplex, Lendlease, Mirvac or comparable contractors will be highly regarded.
