Job summary

Design & Build Recruitment in Newcastle, NSW, is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead cost planning for high-end residential and commercial projects valued up to $30 million. You will review drawings, prepare tender submissions and manage subcontractor quotes.

Reporting to senior management, you’ll own the estimating process across a diverse portfolio and drive value engineering to ensure successful project outcomes within a collaborative, award-winning team.

Qualifications

• Proven estimating experience within the construction industry — essential.
• Experience estimating high-end residential and commercial projects.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specs.
• Strong knowledge of construction costs and subcontractor pricing.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tenders.

Responsibilities

• Preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and tender submissions.
• Reviewing architectural drawings, specifications and project documentation.
• Conducting detailed quantity take-offs and cost planning.
• Obtaining and assessing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Identifying project risks, cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
• Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams.
• Supporting tender negotiations and contributing to successful project outcomes.
• Working closely with the construction team to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to delivery.
