Job summary

Design & Build Recruitment seeks an experienced Senior Estimator for its Newcastle-based client, an award-winning builder delivering high-end residential and commercial projects. You will own the estimating process, conduct detailed take-offs, review drawings, and manage subcontractor quotes to support successful tenders and project delivery.

The role requires proven estimating experience in construction, the ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications, and strong cost awareness.

Qualifications

• Proven estimating experience within the construction industry — essential.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Strong knowledge of construction costs, subcontractor pricing and procurement.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates and tender submissions.
• Review architectural drawings, specifications and project documentation.
• Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and cost planning.
• Obtain and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Identify project risks, cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams.
• Support tender negotiations and contribute to successful project outcomes.
• Work closely with the construction team to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to delivery.
