Job summary

Genus Infrastructure (VIC) Pty Ltd in Melbourne is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to deliver accurate, competitive tenders for substation and transmission line projects. You will work with internal teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure commercially sound estimates.

The role requires at least 3 years in senior estimating, proficiency with Candy software, and strong MS Excel skills. You will review drawings and tender docs, manage multiple bids and drive cost databases,

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in a senior estimating or estimating management role.
• Experience estimating substation and transmission line projects.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Strong commercial, analytical and numerical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
• Proven ability to manage tenders within tight deadlines.
• Experience in utilities, power infrastructure, construction or resources sectors.
• Current Australian driver’s licence and National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for labour, materials, equipment and subcontractor requirements.
• Review technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation to develop accurate and competitive bids.
• Manage multiple tenders simultaneously, ensuring submissions meet deadlines and commercial requirements.
• Develop and maintain cost databases, supplier pricing and schedules of rates.
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders to obtain pricing, clarify scope and resolve tender queries.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and assess alternative construction methodologies and solutions.
• Review and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Prepare tender documentation, cost reports, project schedules and supporting commercial information.
• Review and approve the technical, commercial and financial components of tender submissions.
• Monitor industry developments, market pricing and relevant regulations to support accurate estimating.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes, systems and procedures.
• Provide guidance and support to other estimators, promoting accuracy and consistency across the team.

About the Role

Genus is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our Melbourne team. You will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive tenders for substation and transmission line projects, working closely with internal teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers to deliver commercially sound estimates.

Key Requirements

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a senior estimating or estimating management role.
• Proficiency in Candy estimating software.
• Experience estimating substation and transmission line projects.
• Demonstrated experience preparing and managing tenders within the utilities, power infrastructure, construction or resources sectors.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Strong commercial, analytical and numerical skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver tenders within tight deadlines.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams and other stakeholders.
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

Additional Requirements

• Qualifications in construction management, engineering, a relevant trade or a related discipline are desirable.
• Further qualifications in leadership, management or project management are advantageous.
• Current Australian driver's licence.
• Current National Police Clearance, or willingness to obtain one if required.
