Electrical Estimator / Business Development

Genus is seeking an Electrical Estimator with strong Business Development experience to support our tendering operations while driving new business opportunities and fostering long‑term client relationships.

The Opportunity

In this influential role, you will enjoy a combination of deep technical estimating and the ability to identify opportunities and grow our client base. Working closely with senior leadership, you will be directly involved in competitive tendering, pricing strategies, and business development activities that shape the future pipeline of Genus.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate, detailed electrical and instrumentation estimates for industrial, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
• Oversee the entire tender process including take‑offs, cost build‑ups, subcontractor engagement, and bid submissions.
• Actively support business development – identify opportunities, engage with potential clients, and strengthen existing relationships.
• Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation to determine scope, risks, and pricing strategies.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and senior leadership during bidding and project handover.
• Attend client meetings, industry events, and pre‑tender briefings on behalf of Genus.
• Provide commercial insights to help shape future project pipelines and market strategy.

About You

• 5–10+ years’ experience as an Electrical Estimator. Senior level experience highly regarded.
• Experience with estimating software (WINEST highly regarded).
• Strong understanding of electrical and industrial construction environments (utilities, power, mining, infrastructure, energy, etc.).
• Tertiary qualifications in Leadership, Management, Project Management, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or Quantity Surveying.
• Proven business development or client‑facing experience within the industrial or electrical contracting sector.
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills with strong commercial acumen.
• Confident communicator capable of presenting to clients and senior stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and work within strict deadlines.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality.
