Job summary

UGL is leading a major solar farm and BESS project near Mount Isa. We are seeking a Senior Environmental Advisor to provide on-site environmental support across construction, ensuring compliance with approvals and promoting responsible work practices on site.

Reporting to the HSE team, you will work with project managers, supervisors and subcontractors to deliver positive environmental outcomes, manage plans, and drive continuous improvement on a live operating site.

Qualifications

• Experience as a site-based Environmental Advisor or Environmental Officer in construction, infrastructure, utilities, energy or major projects.
• Environmental Science degree or equivalent with knowledge of environmental legislation and compliance.
• Experience maintaining environmental management plans, conducting site inspections and supporting reporting activities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across project teams and subcontractors.
• Able to work a FIFO roster of 10 days on, 4 days off.

• Provide day-to-day environmental support across construction activities, ensuring compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain environmental management plans, procedures and documentation.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and monitoring to identify risks and opportunities.

Join UGL on a major solar farm and battery energy storage (BESS) project near Mount Isa. Working alongside an existing operational solar farm, you'll support the delivery of a large-scale renewable energy project that combines new construction with the challenges and opportunities of a live operating environment.

About the role

Reporting to the site HSE Manager, you'll provide environmental support across construction activities, helping the project meet its environmental obligations while promoting responsible work practices on site. This is a hands-on role that combines field-based environmental management with compliance, reporting and stakeholder engagement.

You will work closely with project managers, supervisors and subcontractors to drive positive environmental outcomes while maintaining compliance with project approvals, environmental management plans and relevant legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day environmental support across construction activities, ensuring compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain environmental management plans, procedures and associated documentation.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and environmental monitoring to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
• Assist with environmental incidents, investigations, corrective actions and compliance reporting.
• Work closely with project teams, supervisors and subcontractors to promote environmental awareness and drive continuous improvement.

About you

• Experience as a site-based Environmental Advisor or Environmental Officer within construction, infrastructure, utilities, energy, resources or other major project environments.
• A qualification in Environmental Science, or elated discipline, with sound knowledge of environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
• Experience maintaining environmental management plans, conducting site inspections and supporting environmental reporting activities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across project teams and subcontractors.
• A practical, proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to work a FIFO roster of 10 days on, 4 days off.
