Job summary

John Holland Group is seeking an Environment and Sustainability Manager for a wastewater and Class A Recycled Water project north of Craigieburn, VIC. The role leads the environmental team, guides compliance and risk management, and collaborates with design, procurement and construction teams to embed sustainable practices in delivery.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Construction Environmental and Sustainability Management in large infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative environmental risk assessment and risk controls.
• Ability to lead investigations involving multiple internal and external parties.
• Knowledge of environmental statutes and legislation.
• Understanding of sustainability schemes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support the development of environmental and sustainability team personnel in leading environmental practices and driving improvement.
• Provide environmental and sustainability guidance to internal stakeholders.
• Maintain knowledge of legal, regulatory and company environmental requirements, ensuring staff are informed of changes.
• Identify and effectively manage environmental risks.
• Liaise with government bodies and professional organisations on environmental matters.
• Establish, monitor and report on key environmental and sustainability performance objectives.
• Develop and implement project inspection, auditing and review processes.
• Communicate environmental roles and responsibilities, review project team environmental competencies and identify training needs.
• Manage environmental and sustainability budget allocation as required to ensure environmental management is cost-effective.
• Manage environmental consultants and the collection of environmental field monitoring information.
• Provide training to staff on environment matters.
• Support project induction and environmental management systems/tools training.
• Collaborate with design, procurement and construction teams to embed sustainability in project delivery.
