Job summary

UGL Pty Limited is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to lead the electrical design activities for large road infrastructure projects in Sydney. You will manage design, procurement, construction and commissioning documentation and mentor engineers within the electrical disciplines.

The role requires strong collaboration with the Discipline Lead Electrical, project delivery teams, and regulatory authorities to ensure safe, compliant and timely project delivery.

Qualifications

• Min. 6 years Electrical project engineering experience with strong experience within construction of large Road Infrastructure ideal.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Relevant Rail Industry Worker competencies.
• Development of SHEQ process and procedures and management of others in conducting SHEQ process and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Develop a thorough understanding of the project and communicate to the Project Team.
• Contribute to and maintain Design Management Plans with status updates.
• Ensure design templates, interface management, and design deliverables are aligned with requirements.
• Review and oversee design outputs for compliance with project requirements.
• Plan and conduct design verifications and validations; incorporate outcomes into design.
• Ensure design conforms to safety, environmental, construction, commissioning, and operating requirements.
• Aim to minimize design rework and keep items within budget.
• Provide support to procurement, construction and commissioning teams.
• Liaise with Authorities on permits and approvals.
• Monitor timeliness of design outputs and report to management.
• Participate in design review meetings and close out issues promptly.
• Lead tender preparation activities and related Engineering administrative tasks.
