Job summary

Fortescue is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to oversee HV and LV electrical design from concept through to commissioning. You will ensure safe, practical and reliable solutions that meet legislative, technical and Fortescue engineering requirements.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, consultants and suppliers to resolve technical challenges and support decarbonisation projects. The role reports to the Principal Electrical Engineer and involves site travel across Perth

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
8+ years' experience delivering mining, industrial, utilities or electrical infrastructure projects.
Strong knowledge of AC power systems including HV/LV distribution, transformers, protection systems and switchgear.
Understanding of Western Australian legislation, mining regulations and Australian Standards.
Experience with HV protection systems, protection coordination studies and protection relay commissioning.
Desirable experience with protection relay platforms (SEL, ABB, Siemens or GE Multilin).
Underground mining electrical engineering experience is highly desirable.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and provide sound technical judgement.
Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

Review and assure electrical designs, drawings and specifications prepared by consultants and suppliers.
Provide senior electrical engineering expertise across infrastructure projects from concept through to commissioning.
Develop and review electrical system architectures and technical standards for HV and LV systems.
Ensure designs comply with WA legislation, Australian Standards and Fortescue requirements.
Provide input on AC power systems including HV/LV distribution, protection systems and transformers.
Review protection settings and relay commissioning activities.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and suppliers to resolve issues.
Apply sound engineering judgement to deliver safe, practical electrical solutions across multiple projects.
Support design assurance, commissioning and emerging engineering issue resolution.
