Job summary

EDL is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to guide technical design and drive innovation across complex projects. You will mentor staff, develop robust electrical solutions, and ensure safe, compliant operations in a heavy industry setting.

You must hold a Washington Accord degree in Electrical Engineering, with Chartered Engineer status or progress toward it, and around 10 years of relevant experience. The role emphasizes safety, standards, and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Must have a Washington Accord recognised degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status (CPEng) desirable.
• RPEQ membership or progressing toward it is preferred.
• 10 years' experience in electrical engineering field with heavy industry exposure.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and innovation for timely resolution of queries and issues.
• Design, develop, and implement electrical engineering solutions with technical accuracy and quality.
• Mentor less experienced team members to build high technical capability.
• Support Operations with safe and timely resolution of issues.
• Implement electrical engineering standards and maintain technical documentation.
• Certify schemes as a registered professional engineer as required.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve departmental objectives.
• Enhance electrical capability by improving processes and tracking industry trends.
• Adhere to health and safety obligations for self and others.
• Conform to company policies and procedures as directed by management.
• Senior Engineers may be assigned other duties as required by the company.

Job description

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Provide technical guidance and innovation for the timely resolution of queries and issues.
• Design, develop, and implement engineering solutions, ensuring technical accuracy and quality
• Identify the learning and development needs for yourself and mentor less experienced team members to ensure a high level of technical capability.
• Support EDL Operations with the safe and timely resolution of issues
• Effective implementation of Electrical engineering standards and technical documentation
• Certify schemes as a registered professional engineer as required
• Support team members and work collaboratively to contribute to achieving the team’s objectives
• Enhance EDL’s Electrical capability through improving existing processes, and staying updated with industry trends
• Actively ensure own health and safety and the health and safety of others through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations
• Support and comply with Company policies and procedures as advised and documented in the Company’s employment policies as amended from time to time and as directed by Managers/Supervisors
• In addition to the duties set out above, the Senior Engineers may be expected to perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the Company

Qualifications and Experience

• Washington Accord recognised degree in Electrical Engineering
• Chartered Member of Engineers Australia (CPEng)
• Member of the Board Professional Engineers Queensland (RPEQ) or working towards this
• In depth knowledge and experience in the Electrical Engineering field with 10 years’ experience
• Understanding of safety principles in design with a core emphasis on effective risk management
• Experience with heavy industry (e.g., mining, power generation, oil & gas) would be an advantage
• Experience facilitating design and project reviews, including HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA and safety reviews desirable
