Job summary

BSE Australia Pty Ltd in Brisbane is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (associate level) to lead electrical design and project teams from concept through construction, supported by BSE's national practice. You will work across commercial, residential, aged care and government sectors, mentoring junior engineers and coordinating multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs meet NCC and Australian Standards.

A background of 7+ years and an Australian building services focus is required; RPEQ

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• RPEQ registration or currently progressing toward registration.
• 7+ years experience in Australian building services.
• Experience leading engineering teams and delivering from concept to construction.
• Knowledge of NCC and relevant Australian Standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of electrical systems for building services projects.
• Deliver detailed design and documentation for electrical elements to scope expectations.
• Contribute across all project phases from tender to construction support.
• Carry out design calculations and briefs within project timelines and budgets.
• Engage with clients throughout lifecycle, including meetings and site inspections.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers and designers.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary team efforts and reviews.
• Prepare technical docs, specs and reports.

The role

Our Brisbane hub is growing. We are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer at associate level to lead electrical design and project teams from concept through to construction. You will help lead a close-knit multidisciplinary team, backed by BSE's national practice.

You will work across commercial, residential, aged care and government projects. Some of our BSE QLD work includes 450 Queen Street Redevelopment, Windsor Inner North Secondary School, Moreton Bay & Caloundra TAFE Centres of Excellence, Vila at East Village, Cannon Hill, Rio Tinto Fitout, Midtown, QIC Fitout and the Elysium Noosa Resort.

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of electrical systems for building services projects.
• Deliver detailed design and documentation for all electrical elements, including power, lighting, communications and security, to scope expectations.
• Be involved across all project phases, from tender preparation and design delivery through to construction support.
• Carry out design calculations and return briefs, working to project timelines and budgets.
• Engage directly with clients throughout the project lifecycle, including client and design meetings and site inspections.
• Take on project leadership responsibilities and contribute to multidisciplinary team coordination.
• Lead project teams, coordinating and reviewing the work of engineers and designers.
• Prepare technical documentation, specifications and reports.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and regulatory authorities.
• Make sure designs meet codes, standards, project and quality requirements.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, project teams and internal teams.
• Provide hands-on mentoring and coaching to junior engineers and designers.
• Maintain and grow your technical knowledge in electrical engineering.

What you will bring

• 7+ years' experience in electrical engineering, ideally in Australian building services consulting.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams.
• Solid experience delivering electrical projects from concept through to construction completion.
• A tertiary qualification in electrical engineering or a related field.
• RPEQ registered or working towards.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary projects, including managing client expectations.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• The ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships with clients, project teams and internal teams.
• A passion for mentoring and coaching junior engineers and designers.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software and design tools.
