Job summary

Building Services Engineers (QLD) in Brisbane is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer at associate level to lead mechanical design and project teams on new build projects, from concept through to construction. You will mentor junior engineers and work with a close-knit multidisciplinary team across commercial, residential, aged care and government sectors.

Qualifications

• 7+ years’ experience in Australian building services, ideally in consulting.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams.
• Solid experience delivering new build mechanical projects from concept through to construction completion.
• Clear applied knowledge of the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards for mechanical services.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary projects, including managing client expectations.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, project teams and internal teams.
• A passion for mentoring and coaching junior engineers and designers.
• Revit, AutoCAD, BIM 360, Hyena and Microsoft Office experience is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and documentation for new build projects, including HVAC, ventilation, filtration and comfort control systems.
• Be involved across all project phases, from tender preparation and design delivery through to construction support.
• Carry out design calculations and return briefs, working to project timelines and budgets.
• Develop specifications and plant layouts, and select equipment and capacities for installation.
• Engage directly with clients throughout the project lifecycle, including client and design meetings and site inspections.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams from brief through to construction.
• Oversee the testing and commissioning of mechanical systems and equipment.
• Prepare technical reports and project documentation.
• Make sure designs meet codes, standards, project and quality requirements.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, project teams and internal teams.
• Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers and designers.
• Maintain and grow your technical knowledge in mechanical engineering.

The role

Our Brisbane hub is growing. We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer at associate level to lead mechanical design and project teams on new build projects, from concept through to construction. You will help lead a close-knit multidisciplinary team, backed by BSE’s national practice.

You will work across commercial, residential, aged care and government projects. Some of our BSE QLD work includes 450 Queen Street Redevelopment, Windsor Inner North Secondary School, Moreton Bay & Caloundra TAFE Centres of Excellence, Vila at East Village, Cannon Hill, Rio Tinto Fitout, Midtown, QIC Fitout and the Elysium Noosa Resort.

What you will do

• The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, project teams and internal teams.
• A passion for mentoring and coaching junior engineers and designers.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, BIM 360, Hyena and Microsoft Office, including OneDrive. Revit design and modelling experience is highly regarded.
