Job summary

Building Services Engineers Pty Ltd (BSE) in Brisbane seeks a Senior Hydraulic Engineer to lead hydraulic design from concept to construction. You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and work across retail, commercial and government projects.

You will engage with clients throughout the project lifecycle, apply your knowledge of NCC and Australian Standards, and contribute to design delivery, tendering and site support.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Australian building services, ideally in consulting.
• Extensive experience delivering complex hydraulic services projects from concept through to construction completion.
• A tertiary qualification in engineering or equivalent experience. A bachelor’s degree in mechanical or civil engineering is highly regarded.
• RPEQ registered / working towards
• Practical knowledge of the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards.
• Extensive experience leading and coordinating multidisciplinary projects, including managing client expectations.
• The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, project teams and internal teams.
• A passion for mentoring and coaching junior engineers and designers.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, BIM 360, Hyena, BlueBeam and Microsoft Office. Revit design and modelling experience is highly regarded.

• Deliver detailed hydraulic design for hot and cold water, sanitary plumbing and drainage, stormwater drainage, gas services, fire services and domestic wastewater treatment systems.
• Be involved across all project phases, from tender preparation and design delivery through to construction support.
• Carry out design calculations and return briefs, working to project timelines and budgets.
• Engage directly with clients throughout the project lifecycle, including client and design meetings and site inspections.
• Lead multidisciplinary team coordination and project management.
• Handle project administration, including scheduling, estimating and report preparation.
• Problem-solve complex design challenges and deliver strong solutions for clients.
• Make sure designs meet codes, standards, project and quality requirements.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, project teams and internal teams.
• Provide hands‑on mentoring and coaching to junior engineers and designers.
• Maintain and grow your technical knowledge in hydraulics.

Lead hydraulic design on major projects with a 100% Australian-owned consultancy that has been delivering building services since 1994.

The role

Our Brisbane hub is growing. We are looking for a Senior Hydraulic Engineer to lead hydraulic design from concept through to construction. You will work in a close-knit multidisciplinary team, backed by BSE’s national practice. You will work across retail, hospitality, commercial, residential, seniors living and government projects. Some of our BSE QLD work includes 450 Queen Street Redevelopment, Windsor Inner North Secondary School, Moreton Bay & Caloundra TAFE Centres of Excellence, Vila at East Village, Cannon Hill, Rio Tinto Fitout, Midtown, QIC Fitout and the Elysium Noosa Resort.
