Job description

Senior Director Insurance and Information Access
Full-time Temporary
Details:

The City and Environment Directorate (CED) brings together the people, services and systems that shape Canberra’s future. We are a new directorate with a bold purpose: to deliver smarter, more connected services that respond to the needs of our Territory and community.

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Director, Insurance and Information Access to lead a multidisciplinary team within the Procurement and Business Operations Branch.

This is a unique senior leadership opportunity overseeing two specialised functions that play a critical role in protecting the Directorate's interests and supporting transparency and accountability across government. The Insurance and Information Access team leads strategic insurance coordination, complex claims governance, asset risk exposure management, Freedom of Information (FOI) processes, Open Access Information Scheme disclosures, Standing Order 213A requests and Executive Document Releases.

As the Senior Director, you will provide strategic advice to executives and business areas, lead the governance framework for insurance and claims management, oversee information access functions, and represent the Directorate in whole-of-government forums and stakeholder engagements. You will build strong relationships with senior executives, other government agencies, legal service providers and other key stakeholders to achieve strategic outcomes.

We are looking for an accomplished leader who can navigate complex issues, drive organisational improvement, foster a positive and inclusive team culture, and deliver high-quality outcomes in a dynamic environment. Experience in insurance, claims management, risk management, information access, governance, administrative law or related fields will be highly regarded.

The team operates in a supportive and collaborative environment, offering opportunities to influence strategic decision-making across the Directorate while strengthening leadership, governance and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, veterans, younger and older workers, and people with diverse genders, sexes and sexualities to apply.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
  • Experience in insurance, information access, governance, risk management or related disciplines will be highly regarded.

Note: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of three months. This position is available to ACT Government officers and employees only.

Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.

This position is located in a workplace designated for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.

Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start, and finish times.

Note: Under the ACTPS employment framework you may be placed in another role where required for the efficient administration of the service.

Where an offer of employment is for a fixed-term period, any related temporary contracts within the Territory will be issued in compliance with the requirements and applicable exceptions outlined in the Fair Work Act.

The ACT public service is committed to closing the gap, underpinned by the belief that when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a genuine say in the design and delivery of policies, programs and services that affect them, better life outcomes are achieved.
