The University of Newcastle is seeking a DevOps Engineering Specialist to drive delivery across an enterprise‑grade stack including ServiceNow, Dynamics 365, Okta and AWS. You will mentor teammates, improve pipelines and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure reliable, scalable services for staff and students.

Based at the Callaghan Campus in Australia, this full‑time role offers leadership opportunities and exposure to a broad IT ecosystem.

Formación

• Minimum 4 years designing, building and improving scalable enterprise systems across complex environments.
• Demonstrated experience applying DevOps practices including automation, observability, alerting, infrastructure‑as‑code, config management and deployment tooling.
• Strong ability to identify, troubleshoot and resolve scalability and performance issues with ITSM experience (incident, problem, change, release and service‑level management).
• Leadership capabilities including mentoring team members and collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team with clear communication and mutual respect.
• Experience fostering a safe, healthy, equitable and respectful workplace.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and deploy software, infrastructure and tool sets for the build, test and release of enterprise solutions.
• Assist in building and developing platform pipelines within the capability area.
• Contribute to the design, implementation and continuous improvement of AI‑assisted development, CI/CD pipelines, automation, observability and infrastructure‑as‑code practices.
• Analyse, debug and troubleshoot incidents and contribute to resolving problems impacting engineering and solution delivery.
• Assist with design, management and monitoring of systems and platforms.
• Proactively engage with technical teams and the business to identify the right tooling and practices for development and delivery.
• Support platform health through regular maintenance, upgrades, secure coding practices and alignment with University security policies.
• Mentor less‑experienced members of the DevOps team, sharing knowledge and helping build capability.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, managed‑service partners and vendors.
