Job summary

REA Group is seeking a Senior Security Engineer (Detection & Response) to modernise REA’s detection capabilities. You will operate data flows and telemetry integrations, develop high-fidelity detections with AI-assisted tooling, and coordinate containment with engineering teams.

You’ll assess threat intelligence, validate detections, and develop automation playbooks to improve coverage and response. This is a permanent role based in Melbourne or Sydney with remote options across Australia.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience configuring and operating data flows including log forwarding, transformation and observability pipelines.
• Practical experience in cloud environments (AWS, GCP or Azure) and security tooling such as SIEM/SOAR/EDR/CNAPP.

Responsibilities

• Configure and operate data flows for the detection platform and optimise cost.
• Define threats to detect and tune high-fidelity detections and correlation logic.
• Develop automated detection testing and validation processes and investigate security events.
