Job summary

Applidyne is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary design team in Australia. You will lead high-level mechanical, mechatronic and electronic design activities, perform first-principles analysis, and guide project teams through concept to testing and delivery.

You will mentor junior engineers, promote the company’s capabilities, and contribute to design reviews and client communications in a dynamic R&D environment.

Qualifications

• It is anticipated that applicants for Senior Engineering positions will have relevant tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering or a similar discipline.
• At least 5 years technical design experience in a commercial R&D environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good mechanical aptitude if an Electronics Engineer; good electronics aptitude if a Mechanical Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-level engineering analysis and design activities in mechanical, mechatronic, or electronic projects.
• Conduct analysis and design optimisation from first principles.
• Carry out system requirement reviews and generate system specifications.
• Research and testing to support design and development.
• Prepare technical reports for design reviews, failure investigations, feasibility studies and stress analysis.
• Manage projects with small teams to meet quality, timing and budget targets, including planning and reporting to clients.
