Job summary

Applidyne is seeking a Graduate Design Engineer to work on multidisciplinary projects across mechanical, mechatronic and electronic systems. You will participate in concept generation, create design concepts, and model parts and assemblies in 3D CAD with electronics considerations.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will contribute to detailed design, PCB work, embedded software, testing and production readiness, while collaborating with a diverse project team.

Qualifications

• Graduated in the past 12 months or expect to graduate in the next 12 months with a Mechanical or Electronic Engineering degree.
• Some technical design experience in a commercial R&D environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong IT skills and good mechanical aptitude if an Electronics Engineer.
• Good electronics aptitude if a Mechanical Engineer.
• You must be a strong team player.

Responsibilities

• Participation in concept generation sessions and assistance in generating concepts to meet system requirement specifications.
• Generating design concepts and capturing intellectual property.
• 3D CAD modelling of parts and assemblies of complex systems using CAD and FEA tools or Altium and KiCAD for electronics.
• Detailed design, including manufacturing drawings or PCB design, embedded micro controller and software development.
• Analysis and design activities to support the design process.
• Designing and conducting research and testing to support the design and development process.
• Assembly, set to work and testing of prototypes.
• Liaison with manufacturers to assist in getting designs ready for production.
• Preparing technical reports for design reviews, failure investigations, and feasibility studies.
