Job summary

Qantas Airways is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and build scalable data pipelines across cloud platforms. You’ll collaborate with Architects and Product Owners to translate requirements into practical solutions and ensure data quality, security and governance.

The role requires hands-on Snowflake and Teradata experience, plus strong SQL and Python skills. Hybrid work from Mascot Campus is available with staff travel benefits from day one.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data engineering or similar data-intensive role in a large tech environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative/technical field.
• Hands-on Snowflake experience including data modelling, security, and cost optimisation.
• Advanced AWS data services experience or equivalent Azure/Google Cloud.
• Strong SQL with complex analytical queries and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

• Develop scalable, reliable and cost-effective data solutions across end-to-end data platforms.
• Collaborate with Architects, Delivery Leads and Product Owners to translate requirements into cloud-based solutions.
• Contribute to design, development, maintenance and continuous improvement of data pipelines.
• Provide technical direction, review designs and code, and mentor engineers.
