Job summary

Qantas is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build and operate scalable data platforms and pipelines across cloud environments. You will translate business and analytical requirements into practical, cost-effective data solutions while partnering with architects, product owners and engineers.

The role involves hands-on work with Snowflake, AWS, data modelling, governance and FinOps considerations, across hybrid work arrangements at the Mascot Campus and beyond.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience in a large tech environment.
• A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative/technical discipline.
• Expert Snowflake experience including data modelling, security, and cost optimisation.
• Advanced AWS data services experience (or Azure/Google Cloud).
• Strong dbt expertise including testing, modeling and release management.
• Experience with workflow orchestration (Airflow or AWS MWAA).
• Advanced SQL for complex analytics and performance tuning.
• Proficient Python for data engineering and good software engineering practices.
• Experience with Terraform or IaC and reusable module design.
• Designing and operating multiple data products with governance and quality in mind.
• Exposure to FinOps, cloud cost attribution and forecasting.
• Enterprise data integration across SaaS, APIs and source systems.
• Exposure to Power BI and semantic models.
