Job summary

Nine is Australia’s largest locally owned media company, seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and maintain scalable data pipelines and centralize data into a warehouse. You will partner with Product to enable data-driven solutions across high-volume events from major mastheads like The Australian Financial Review, The Sydney Morning Herald, and The Age.

You will apply Python/SQL, Cloud platforms, and modern tooling to deliver robust data ecosystems, while guiding designs and promoting DevOps

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS/SE or related field is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of cloud migrations, best practices.
• Fluent in Python and SQL; experience with data warehouses.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and models that extract, load, and transform data from various sources into the data warehouse.
• Lead and guide solution designs, ensuring the team understands the technical "why" and "how" while documenting designs to enhance collective knowledge.
• Champion engineering best practices across coding, DevOps, and metadata standardizations to ensure high-quality output within project timelines.
• Integrate emerging technologies and AI tools into daily workflows for code suggestions, data profiling, and automated testing.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and adjacent technology teams to maintain organizational standards and resolve incidents.
• Work closely with Product Managers to shape data solutions, understand end-user requirements, and support stakeholders through knowledge sharing.
