Job summary

Anglicare Sydney seeks a Senior Data Engineer to shape enterprise data and ML platforms on Azure and Databricks. You’ll design and deploy scalable pipelines, collaborate with data scientists and architects, and drive DevSecOps practices across the data estate.

You will mentor teams, enforce governance and security standards, and partner with stakeholders to deliver high-impact analytics initiatives that support Anglicare’s mission.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing and delivering cloud-based data platforms.
• Strong expertise across Azure, Databricks and Spark.
• Experience building enterprise-scale ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps and CI/CD.
• Terraform, Bicep and IaC practices.
• Knowledge of cloud security, governance and architecture.
• Experience supporting analytics, ML and AI workloads.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and technical leadership.

Your opportunity

You will provide technical leadership across the design, development and operationalisation of enterprise-grade data and machine learning platforms. Working closely with Data Scientists, Solution Architects and business stakeholders, you’ll help deliver cloud-native solutions that support Anglicare’s data and AI strategy.

With integrity and a technical leadership mindset, you will:

• Design, build and optimise enterprise data and analytics platforms on Microsoft Azure and Databricks.


• Develop scalable batch and streaming data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks and Apache Spark.


• Enable machine learning and AI initiatives through the delivery of robust cloud-based environments.


• Implement DevSecOps, CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code practices across the data platform.


• Design secure, scalable and cost-efficient architectures aligned to governance and security requirements.


• Establish data quality, metadata management and governance standards.


• Mentor engineering teams and promote best practices across cloud, data and AI technologies.


• Partner with stakeholders to deliver enterprise-wide data, analytics and AI outcomes.

What you’ll bring

You’re a highly capable Senior Data Engineer who combines strong cloud engineering expertise with a passion for solving complex technical challenges. You enjoy building scalable platforms, enabling innovation and mentoring others to achieve great outcomes.

You will also need:

• Extensive experience designing and delivering cloud-based data platforms.


• Strong expertise across Microsoft Azure, Databricks and Apache Spark.


• Experience building and optimising enterprise-scale ETL/ELT pipelines.


• Strong understanding of DevSecOps, CI/CD and infrastructure automation.


• Experience with Terraform, Bicep and cloud infrastructure-as-code practices.


• Strong knowledge of cloud security, governance and architecture best practices.


• Experience supporting analytics, machine learning and AI workloads.


• Excellent stakeholder engagement and technical leadership capabilities.

Highly desirable

• Experience supporting enterprise AI and machine learning platforms.


• Expertise in Data Vault and dimensional modelling methodologies.


• Experience with Azure DevOps, observability frameworks and cloud cost optimisation.
