The Queensland Government's Research team, serving Jobs Queensland and the Department of Trade, Employment and Training, seeks a Senior Data Analyst in Brisbane to turn complex labour market and demographic data into actionable insights for strategic decision-making.
You will lead the delivery of Anticipating Future Skills analytical products, work across datasets, and advance reproducible analytics using R, Python and SQL in a government context.
The Research team services Jobs Queensland (JQ) and the Department of Trade, Employment and Training (DTET), including equipping the JQ Board with robust evidence and analysis and translating its advice into work that is rigorous, credible and decision-useful.
Jobs Queensland is an independent statutory entity that provides expert, evidencebased, industry-led advice to the Queensland Government to support the strengthening of Queensland's current and future workforce.
The flagship program of JQ is Anticipating Future Skills (AFS) employment projections. AFS projections are developed using economic and labour market modelling.
The Research team is the program owner and undertakes analysis of AFS outputs to provide insights on Queensland's labour market outlook. The team supports work utilised in whole-of-government and industry forums including the annual JQ AFS roundtable held in November each year.
As the Senior Data Analyst, you will apply statistical and analytical methods to complex labour market, economic, demographic and administrative data, translating evidence into clear, actionable insights that support strategic decision making.
