Job summary

AJQ Consulting is seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst for a 12-month contract based in Canberra. You will extract, analyse, and interpret data to drive business decisions and strategic initiatives, delivering dashboards and reports across multiple sources.

You will work with stakeholders to define requirements, ensure data accuracy and governance, and contribute to data architecture discussions while applying AWS data stack, SQL and Power BI skills in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a data analyst role
• Experience with data modelling and mapping; knowledge of data modelling desirable
• Exposure to data architecture principles and governance concepts
• Familiar with data project lifecycle, SQL, Power BI, Agile, JIRA/Confluence

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Analyst to join our team at AJQ on a 12 months contract basis based in Canberra.

About the role

AJQ' is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Analyst to join our dynamic team on a contract basis. As a Data Analyst, you will play a crucial role in extracting, analysing, and interpreting data to drive business decisions and strategic initiatives.

What you'll be doing

• Gather, clean and validate data from multiple sources.
• Analyst large datasheets to identify trends, patterns and business opportunities.
• Create reports, dashboards and visualisations using appropriate tools.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into analytical solutions.
• Ensure data accuracy, quality and integrity.
• Automate recurring reports and data processes where applicable.
• Plan, organise and manage projects; including designing, researching, analysing and presenting information in various formats and support relevant working groups.

What we're looking for

• Min 5 years of experience in a data analyst role, supporting activity from requirements gathering to design and development in data projects
• Experience with data modelling and mapping and tools & working knowledge of aspects of data modelling will be highly desirable
• Exposure to and a working knowledge of data architecture principles, including data modelling is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with the entire data project lifecycle, AWS data stack, SQL & reporting tools like power BI, Agile methodology, and tools like JIRA and Confluence
• Exposure to data management concepts and data governance tools
• Have worked on at least 1 large data transformation project ideally in an enterprise environment
• Very strong demonstrable SQL is a must
• A customer-focused approach, strong stakeholder management abilities & learning mindset to grow into the role
• Degree in a quantitative field, such as Computer Science, Statistics, or Business Analytics
