Job summary

Databricks in Sydney is seeking a Sr. Solutions Architect to lead the most complex customer engagements, drive consumption strategy, and own executive-level relationships.

You will be the definitive technical authority across accounts, mentoring junior SAs and coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise-scale data and AI solutions.

This role requires deep Databricks Platform knowledge, real-time data architectures, and alignment of technical decisions with business outcomes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in solutions architecture, principal engineering, or senior technical pre-sales roles.
• Expert-level coding proficiency in Python, SQL, and Spark/PySpark; live coding and platform build in interviews.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems at scale, streaming/real-time, lakehouse design patterns, data governance, cloud-native platforms.
• Expert-level knowledge of the Databricks Platform (or equivalent depth in competing platforms).
• Declared technical specialization with depth in real-time architectures, ML/AI platforms, data governance, or large-scale migrations.
• Proven track record of driving consumption growth and platform adoption in large accounts.
• Executive presence to influence Directors, VPs, and C-level stakeholders on data/AI strategy.
• Experience leading competitive displacements and enterprise evaluations.
• Strong strategic thinking linking architecture to business outcomes.
• Bachelor's or Master's in CS/Engineering or equivalent; advanced degrees valued.

Responsibilities

• Drive the technical and consumption strategy for the organization's most complex engagements.
• Own senior-level technical relationships and act as trusted advisor on data/AI strategy.
• Lead architecture engagements: multi-workload platforms, migrations, real-time systems, AI/ML at scale.
• Serve as an expert on the Databricks Platform and mentor others.
• Develop competitive strategies and position Databricks against rivals.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise-grade solutions.
• Coach and develop junior SAs on depth, engagement, and use-case prioritization.
• Contribute to field engineering thought leadership through content and workshops.
