Job summary

John Holland Pty Ltd is delivering a landmark Western Trunk Sewer rehabilitation project in Victoria. The Senior Contract Administrator will lead commercial and contractual management of subcontracts, ensuring compliance, financial performance and risk oversight on a 12-month fixed-term basis.

About The Project:

We're delighted to have been chosen by Melbourne Water to deliver a world-first solution for the rehabilitation of the Western Trunk Sewer (WTS).

We'll be relining a 4.4km section of the existing sewer main using a technique known as slip-lining. And while the technology itself isn't new, the challenge is, no one's ever done it with such a large diameter pipe - in this case, 4.3 metres - AND in live flow conditions.

The Western Trunk Sewer is one of Melbourne Water's most important assets, transferring approximately 57 per cent of the city’s total annual wastewater flow.

This project adds to the diverse portfolio of work we're currently delivering for Melbourne Water.

We are looking for a Senior Contract Administrator to join our Western Trunk Sewer project based at the Western Treatment Plant in Werribee, just about halfway between Geelong and Melbourne.

Your Role:

The Senior Contract Administrator is responsible for leading the commercial and contractual management of project subcontracts, ensuring contract compliance, financial performance, effective risk management, and alignment with project objectives. This role provides expert commercial guidance, oversees contract administration processes, manages subcontracting and supports the Commercial Manager in delivering strong project governance and commercial outcomes.

This role is a 12-month fixed term contract.

Your Responsibilities:

• Ensure effective and efficient commercial, contractual, and financial practices are maintained
• Clearly report and communicate key commercial matters including change control, variations, disputes, risks, and any other emerging issues
• Effectively manage the administration subcontracts
• Support the Commercial Manager and Project Manager with end of month commercial reporting
• Provide mentoring, and guidance to junior commercial staff and site administrators.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance with contract requirements and assist delivery team with procurement related activities

About You:

• Experienced commercial or contract professional with tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Law, QS, Construction Management, etc.)
• 5+ years' experience in contract administration on major infrastructure projects
• Strong understanding of complex contracts, commercial governance, and procurement requirements
• Highly organised with the ability to prioritise in fast-paced environments; strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
• Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving capability, able to interpret contract obligations and assess risks
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, and confident using project systems such as Aconex, SAP, PPW, and JDE
