Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) in Melbourne seeks a Senior Engineer for the Congestion Modelling team. You will shape Western Australia’s power system with advanced modelling, constraint equations, and data analytics to support secure operation and market outcomes.

You will develop and maintain DIgSILENT PowerFactory models, apply Python tooling, and deliver technical reports with engineering insights for planning, operations and regulatory processes.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or related power systems field.
• Experience in power system operations, network modelling and analysis.
• Proficiency with DIgSILENT PowerFactory and Python.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and problem-solving across groups.
• Excellent technical writing and ability to translate complex concepts.

Responsabilités

• Lead development and improvement of network constraint equations for SWIS limits.
• Develop and maintain power system models to assess performance and congestion.
• Undertake studies to identify constraints from thermal, voltage, stability aspects.
• Apply data analytics and programming to automate analysis and modelling.
• Provide engineering insights for operations, planning and market decisions.
• Deliver technical reports and recommendations to regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with internal teams and industry stakeholders on constraint management.
• Act as SME in congestion modelling and system security.
