Job summary

BMD Group in Sydney is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join our Wentworth Point-based team. You will lead commercial strategy, contract administration and risk management across a portfolio of transport, water and civil infrastructure opportunities, guiding from bid development through project delivery.

The role offers exposure to major infrastructure, with responsibility for forecasting, cost control, variations and client negotiations, and mentoring junior commercial staff.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Business, Law, Quantity Surveying, Commerce.
• Significant commercial management experience within civil construction or major infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of contract administration, commercial risk management and project finance.
• Experience across project lifecycles from tendering to delivery and close-out.
• Proven ability to lead negotiations, manage stakeholder relationships and resolve complex commercial issues.
• Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills to partner with project teams and clients.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement commercial strategies that support successful project delivery and financial performance.
• Lead contract administration, commercial governance and risk management across all project phases.
• Support tender development, commercial reviews and project mobilisation during pursuit stages.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, legal requirements and BMD commercial frameworks.
• Oversee project forecasting, cost control, reporting and financial performance.
• Manage claims, variations and commercial negotiations with clients and stakeholders.
• Build relationships with operational teams, clients, subcontractors and delivery partners.
• Mentor and develop commercial personnel while fostering a high-performance culture.
