Job summary

Amazon Web Services is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer for the AWS Incident Response Team in Sydney. You will lead high-severity incident calls, triage failures across distributed systems, coordinate resolver teams, and drive real-time mitigations while billions of customer requests rely on reliability.

You will build dashboards, surface problems before customers notice, and push for faster incident remediation across AWS services.

Qualifications

• Experience in site reliability engineering or related field.
• Experience scripting in Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby, or modern languages.
• Understanding of Linux OS, networking fundamentals, and distributed systems.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex multi-system problems.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, and incident management tooling.

Responsibilities

• Lead high-severity incident response calls end to end and coordinate resolver teams.
• Own operational health reviews and maintain dashboards and metrics.
• Improve detection accuracy and speed with proactive mechanisms.
• Deep-dive operational data to identify systemic issues and priorities for improvements.
• Apply scripting, automation, and AI to accelerate incident response and reduce toil.
• Mentor peers and drive learnings into corrective actions.
