Job summary

CPB Contractors Australia is seeking a Senior Civil Supervisor Earthworks for a major highway project near Ararat, Victoria. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will lead earthworks teams, manage subcontractors and plant resources, and drive safety, quality and progress across site activities.

You will implement production plans, monitor progress, mentor supervisors, and maintain site records while upholding CPB’s standards and values.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience supervising large-scale earthworks on major highway, road, or civil infrastructure projects.
• Capability managing bulk earthworks, embankments, formation works, drainage, and heavy plant operations.
• Strong leadership and ability to manage multiple crews and subcontractors.
• Sound understanding of construction methodologies, project sequencing, and production planning.
• Proven commitment to safety leadership and proactive risk management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Current White Card and relevant construction licences/tickets.
• Civil construction qualifications and supervisory training highly regarded.

• Conducting daily pre-starts, toolbox talks, site inspections, and safety leadership activities.
• Maintaining accurate site records, progress reports, and workforce planning documentation.
• Mentoring supervisors, leading hands, and site personnel while fostering a high-performance project culture.

Your Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Civil Supervisor Earthworks to join our project team based near Ararat, Victoria. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will play a key role in managing subcontractor and supplier contracts, project financial administration, procurement activities, and commercial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading and supervising bulk and detailed earthworks activities across the project.
• Managing construction teams, subcontractors, and plant resources to achieve project milestones.
• Overseeing cut-to-fill operations, embankment construction, subgrade preparation, and pavement foundation works.
• Coordinating drainage installations, including deep excavation works and trench shield operations.
• Driving compliance with project safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
• Monitoring productivity, programme performance, and construction sequencing to optimise project delivery.
• Identifying and proactively managing construction risks, constraints, and site interfaces.
• Conducting daily pre-starts, toolbox talks, site inspections, and safety leadership activities.
• Maintaining accurate site records, progress reports, and workforce planning documentation.
• Mentoring supervisors, leading hands, and site personnel while fostering a high-performance project culture.

Our minimum requirements for this role are:

• Extensive experience supervising large-scale earthworks on major highway, road, or civil infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated capability managing bulk earthworks, embankments, formation works, drainage, and heavy plant operations.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple crews and subcontractors.
• Sound understanding of construction methodologies, project sequencing, and production planning.
• Proven commitment to safety leadership and proactive risk management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Current White Card and relevant construction licences/tickets.
• Civil construction qualifications and supervisory training highly regarded.
