Job summary

Sunshine Civil Solutions on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland seeks an experienced Senior Estimator to lead the estimating function for civil construction projects. You will own tender preparation from enquiry to submission and work with clients, subcontractors and internal teams to ensure competitive, margin-conscious cost estimates.

You will analyse tender docs, participate in interviews, and help drive commercial outcomes while supporting handover to delivery teams.

Qualifications

Sunshine Civil Solutions is a well-established and rapidly growing civil construction contractor based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. With a strong reputation for delivering quality civil infrastructure and construction projects, the business is continuing to grow its project portfolio and is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join the team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and supportive team, work closely with the Director and be an integral part of the senior management team. The role will take ownership of the estimating function while playing a key role in the successful delivery and growth of a diverse range of civil construction projects across the Sunshine Coast and wider South-East Queensland.

The Opportunity

Our Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders and project estimates from initial enquiry through to submission.

You will work closely with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, project managers and the internal team to develop detailed cost estimates and ensure tenders are commercially competitive while maintaining appropriate margins and risk considerations.

The role would suit an experienced Civil Estimator who is looking for a long-term opportunity with a reputable contractor where they can have genuine input into the estimating and pre-construction process.

Key Responsibilities

Review and analyse tender documentation, plans, specifications and scopes of work.

Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects.

Develop competitive tender submissions in line with project requirements and company objectives.

Undertake detailed quantity take-offs and costing of labour, plant, materials and subcontractor works.

Obtain and assess quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.

Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions and opportunities during the estimating process.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and clients.

Liaise with Project Managers and construction teams to ensure estimates accurately reflect project requirements and delivery methodologies.

Assist with tender preparation, submission and commercial reviews.

Participate in tender interviews and clarification meetings where required.

Maintain accurate estimating records, pricing information and databases.

Assist with handover of successful projects from estimating through to the project delivery team.

Contribute to improving estimating processes, systems and commercial outcomes.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced Estimator with a strong understanding of civil construction methodologies, materials, plant and subcontractor costs.

Your experience will ideally span a broad range of civil projects, including bulk earthworks, roads, drainage, subdivisions, infrastructure and general civil works. You will have the ability to accurately interpret civil engineering drawings, specifications and scope documentation, together with strong commercial acumen and the ability to obtain, assess and negotiate competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.

A qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline would be advantageous, but is not essential.
