Sniffers Group is seeking an experienced Estimator / Project Engineer to prepare accurate tenders for civil infrastructure projects on the Gold Coast and Brisbane regions. The role involves end-to-end tender management, cost analysis, and collaboration with clients and subcontractors to ensure successful delivery.

The ideal candidate has proven estimating experience in civil construction, strong reading of drawings, and a thorough understanding of tender processes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in estimating civil construction projects.
• Strong understanding of cost drivers for earthworks, drainage, pavements and utilities.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications to develop accurate BOQs and submissions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and Bills of Quantities (BoQs).
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and documentation to determine project costs.
• Ensure full scope of work is captured in tenders.
• Review and assess subcontractor pricing and proposals.
• Prepare and submit RFIs and tender schedules.
• Provide cost comparisons and estimating advice on alternatives.
• Conduct site visits to assess project scope and progress.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.

We are a well-established and respected civil construction company delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across the Gold Coast and greater Brisbane regions. With a strong pipeline of upcoming work, we are looking for a driven and detail-oriented Estimator to join our growing team.

About the Role

As an Estimator / Project Engineer, you will play a key role in preparing accurate and competitive tenders for a variety of civil construction projects including roads, bridges, and utilities. Your work may encompass elements of project management and contract liaison, to ensure all aspects of the tender process through to project delivery are executed with precision.

Seeking a highly experienced Civil Estimator proficient in delivering first-principles estimates across civil infrastructure, landdevelopmentand roadworks projects. Strong end-to-end tender capability covering BOQs, risk analysis, subcontractor engagement, value engineering and compliant submissions for council and TMR-based works. With a background in pricing bulk earthworks, drainage, utilities,pavementsand vegetation works, with proven ability to manage multiple tenders under tight deadlines while supporting construction handovers and variation pricing, with experience across South East Queensland.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

• Proven experience in estimating, quantity surveying, or engineering within civil construction
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and labor costs
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Proficiency in 1st principles take-offs and measurement
• Experience managing the full tender process from start to finish
• Understanding of contract development and negotiation
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
• High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
• Onsite experience is highly regarded

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field
• Valid driver’s license (for site visits)
• White card
