Techwave is seeking a senior Business Analyst with 10+ years to support the GIS Suite Replacement project, bridging business and technical teams and driving data migration across multiple units.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of overall Business Analysis experience with GIS platform transformation and/or data migration projects.
• Experience mapping business processes and identifying gaps and risks in multi-stakeholder environments.
• Strong facilitation, documentation, and analytical skills; ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Information Systems, Geography/GIS, or a related field (preferred).
• Self-driven and outcome-focused, able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Elicit, document, and validate business and functional requirements for the GIS Suite Replacement programme.
• Translate GIS concepts and spatial data structures into clear, actionable business requirements for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Lead and support data migration activities, including data mapping, lineage tracing, validation rules, and reconciliation across legacy and new GIS platforms.
• Analyze system integrations (APIs, data flows, upstream/downstream dependencies) to ensure requirements account for end-to-end impacts.
• Map current and future-state business processes, identifying opportunities where GIS capabilities can drive process improvement.
• Engage and manage stakeholders across multiple business units, balancing competing priorities and driving alignment on requirements and scope.
• Proactively identify risks, gaps, and dependencies, escalating and driving resolution in a timely manner.
• Produce clear documentation (requirements, process maps, data mapping specifications) to support delivery, testing, and change management.
• Support UAT planning and execution, ensuring requirements traceability throughout the project lifecycle.

Must-Have Requirements:

• Geospatial & Data Literacy: Ability to understand Geographic Information System (GIS) concepts (spatial data models, layers, topology, coordinate systems) and translate them into business requirements.
• Data Migration & Transformation Experience: Hands-on experience supporting large-scale data migrations — data mapping, lineage, validation rules, and reconciliation.
• Integration: Strong understanding of how systems connect (APIs, data flows, upstream/downstream impacts).
• Process Thinking: Ability to map business processes and identify where business processes can be improved by GIS.
• Stakeholder Management and Change Awareness: Ability to navigate multiple business units, manage conflicting priorities, and drive alignment.
• Proactive & Outcome-Driven Mindset: Demonstrates initiative by identifying risks, gaps, and dependencies early, and taking ownership to drive resolution.

Experience & Qualifications:

• 10+ years of overall Business Analysis experience, with substantial exposure to GIS platform transformation and/or data migration projects.
• Proven track record of business process mapping and identifying gaps and risks in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
• Experience working on large-scale system replacement or transformation programmes, ideally within GIS, spatial data, or infrastructure/utilities domains.
• Strong facilitation, documentation, and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Information Systems, Geography/GIS, or a related field (preferred, not mandatory given depth of experience).
• Self-driven and outcome-focused, able to work with minimal supervision and hit the ground running.
