Job summary

Jensen Hughes in Sydney is seeking a highly experienced Building Surveyor to join our Code and Building Compliance team across Australia and New Zealand. You will assess building designs against NCC/BCA standards, liaise with clients, prepare compliance reports, and contribute to fire safety upgrades on large commercial projects.

The role offers opportunities to lead a team, mentor junior surveyors, and progress to leadership with a supportive, growth-focused culture and flexible, hybrid-working

Qualifications

• Australian citizenship or permanent resident status.
• Post graduate qualification in Building Surveying with relevant experience.
• Current Building Surveyor registration (Level 1 or 2).
• Ability to collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of the performance requirements of the BCA.
• Familiarity with Work Health and Safety requirements.
• Strong time management and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess building designs against NCC/BCA provisions for a range of classifications.
• Liaise with clients and prepare NCC/BCA compliance reports.
• Collaborate with clients to upgrade fire safety measures.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progression of large projects.
• Prepare Performance Solution design reports for non-fire requirements.
• Lead a team and mentor junior building surveyors.
• Support business development activities.
