Job summary

BYD Australia is seeking a Senior Contract Specialist to join our Energy Storage team in Sydney. You will review, negotiate, and manage commercial contracts for local BESS projects, coordinating with Sales, Legal, Finance, and Engineering to align with company standards and project needs.

You will identify contractual risks, prepare risk summaries, and support negotiations with customers, developers, and EPC contractors.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or above in Law, Business, Commerce, Engineering, or related field.
Legal background is highly preferred for this role.
Experience with contract review, management, and commercial operations desired.
Experience in energy, renewable energy, BESS, infrastructure, EPC is highly desirable.
Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese with strong communication.

Responsibilities

Review customer contracts, supply agreements, purchase orders, amendments and other commercial agreements.
Identify and assess key risks relating to payment, delivery, liquidated damages, warranty and COD.
Prepare contract review comments, deviation lists, risk summaries, and internal approval materials.
Coordinate with Legal and internal teams on high-risk contractual matters and escalation.
Develop and maintain understanding of commercial/contract structure of BESS projects.
Support Sales and Legal in negotiations with customers, developers and EPCs.
Maintain contract lifecycle records in CRM and legal systems.
Track milestones, obligations, notices, and deliverables; close out actions.
