Job summary

AECOM seeks a Principal BESS Engineer to lead technical and commercial advisory services for utility-scale battery energy storage systems. You will own sizing, performance baselines and tender evaluations while guiding contracts, warranties and lifecycle obligations.

You will coordinate interfaces across BESS components, grid connection and design reviews, ensuring robust, bankable project outcomes for clients in Australia. Hybrid work options support flexible delivery.

Qualifications

8+ years experience in the energy sector with utility-scale BESS projects.
Experience across development, procurement, delivery or operation.
Registered or working towards professional registration in Australia (RPEV/RPEQ) preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead BESS Owner's Engineer and technical advisory engagements from feasibility to operation.
Establish sizing and performance basis using dispatch duty and grid requirements.
Prepare requirements, schedules and guarantees for net power, energy, efficiency and availability.
Lead tender evaluations and normalise bids by interrogating assumptions and costs.
Negotiate performance guarantees, warranties and long-term service obligations.
Review architecture and interfaces across cells, modules, racks, BESS systems and grid connection.
