Teachers Mutual Bank Limited is seeking an experienced Retail Banking Lawyer to join a purpose‑led, high‑performing organisation shaping the member experience across Australia. The role demands deep expertise in consumer lending, deposits and mortgages, ADI obligations and regulatory regimes.

You will advise across banking, credit, contracts and governance, support major strategic initiatives, manage disputes and liaise with executive leadership and the Board.

Formación

• Admitted solicitor in New South Wales with current practising certificate.
• 5-15+ years PQE in banking, finance or corporate law with deep retail banking experience.
• Strong understanding of ASIC and APRA frameworks.
• Experience with NCC, NCCP, retail ADI regulations, prudential standards and the Customer Owned Banking Code of Practice.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including managing disputes and litigation.

Responsabilidades

• Provide expert legal partnership across the Bank, delivering clear, governance‑driven guidance.
• Advise on banking, consumer credit, corporate and financial services matters with a commercial mindset.
• Draft, negotiate and review contracts, finance agreements, SLAs and product documentation.
• Support major strategic initiatives including mergers, partnerships, integrations and new product development.
• Identify and manage legal risk across business units in collaboration with Risk and Compliance.
• Support Company Secretary functions through board papers, resolutions and governance guidance.
• Oversee disputes and litigation and coordinate with external counsel.
• Collaborate with executives, operations leaders and the Board to enable timely, commercial decision‑making.
