Job summary

Teachers Mutual Bank Limited is seeking a senior Retail Banking Lawyer to provide expert legal partnership across our Australian retail banking operations. You will advise on consumer lending, deposits and mortgage products, and ensure compliance with NCC, NCCP, ASIC and APRA frameworks.

In this hybrid, enterprise-wide role you will draft, negotiate and review contracts and product documentation; support mergers, partnerships and new product development; manage disputes and liaise with Risk,

Qualifications

Admitted solicitor in New South Wales with current practising certificate.
5-15+ years PQE in banking, finance or corporate law, with deep retail banking experience.
Strong understanding of ASIC and APRA frameworks.
Demonstrated experience with NCC, NCCP, retail ADI regulations, prudential standards and the Customer Owned Banking Code of Practice.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

Provide commercial, solutions-oriented legal advice across banking, consumer credit, corporate and financial services matters.
Draft, negotiate and review contracts, finance agreements, SLAs and product documentation.
Ensure compliance with Corporations Act, Banking Act, ASIC and APRA requirements.
Support major strategic initiatives including mergers, partnerships, integrations and new product development.
Manage disputes and litigation, including oversight of external counsel; partner with Board on governance and director duties.
