Job summary

Greenfields Executive Recruitment & Search is partnering with an Australian bank to appoint a Senior Legal Counsel specializing in Retail Banking. You will join a stable, experienced legal team and work across banking products, regulatory matters and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in banking, finance or corporate law with strong exposure to retail banking.
• Strong knowledge of ASIC and APRA regulatory frameworks, National Credit Code and prudential standards.
• Ability to interpret complex legal issues and provide practical, commercially driven solutions.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building across senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist retail banking and regulatory advice across the National Credit Code and related standards.
• Advise on Corporations Act, Banking Act, ASIC and APRA frameworks and interpret regulatory developments.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, financing arrangements and service agreements.
• Identify and manage legal risk and oversee disputes, coordinating with risk, compliance and external advisers.
• Support governance matters including board papers, duties and conflicts of interest.
• Partner with senior executives across technology, privacy, employment and corporate matters.
